The City of Medicine Hat - known as "The Gas City" because of its abundant supplies of this important fuel - is located in southeastern Alberta, the sixth largest city in the province. Known as Canada's "sunniest city," it's located in the Canadian Badlands, a scenic area created millions of years ago by glaciers and erosion. Today, more than 60,000 people share this hometown with CFL, and the population is growing every year. Medicine Hat, whose name is derived from several Blackfoot Indian legends involving the headdress worn by Medicine Men, is a family community, ideally suited to the family culture at CFL. It's a friendly, affordable place to live. It's within driving distance of Calgary, Alberta's largest city, but it's also a bustling, self-contained community with excellent schools, a college, recreational opportunities, and a growing economy. It's just a few hours from excellent skiing in the winter, and nearby lakes and mountains offer fishing, hiking, and exploring in the summer. For more information on the community, visit the City of Medicine Hat's Web site at www.medicinehat.ca |
